   WHO ARE THESE TRAVELERS?

Our family addiction is travel adventure.  We’ve hiked on the Appalachian Trail, summitted various peaks, surfed the Outer Banks, flew in a helicopter in Charleston, para-sailed in Montauk, sipped champagne at the top of the Eiffel Tower, ate gator in New Orleans, trail rode horses in Texas, gone on a 5 day safari in the South African bush, visited Graceland…twice.  We are no strangers to exploration and adventure!

We are on a mission to visit all 50 states as a family.

We’ve been to 9 countries (USA, Canada, France, England, Ireland, Scotland, South Africa, Netherlands, and Mexico) and 33 states as a family so far.

Our last big journey with the RV was in 2017. We pulled our 45’, RV on a two month circuitous route around the Continental United States.

We covered 9,000 miles in 8 weeks, and include stops in every state that we have missed so far.

We visited 23 states (13 new to us).

A little about us.

  • Dad-  (Hal) Bearded shop teacher, home beer brewer, video production teacher, Army Vet, woodworker, scuba diver

  • Mom- (Rachel) English teacher, organizing consultant, incredible cook, equestrian, writer, former news journalist.

  • Son#1 (Caleb) (11 years old)- Child model, foil fencer, gamer, musician (violin & trumpet), and all around nice kid.

  • Son#2 (Harry) (10 years old)- Wild child, equestrian, WW2 buff, costume enthusiast, musician (piano & trombone), and everybody’s buddy.

  • Huckleberry Blue (4 years old)- Pitbull, scared of his own shadow, big mush.

How Do We Do It???

Simple... We are both teachers, so that takes care of the time off from work.  And we can do it financially because we rent out our house for the summer!

Once you get over the initial weirdness of somebody being in your house when you are not there, it isn't such a big deal.  Oh, and when the check clears, you wish you had 2 houses to rent out!

We've been spending our summers in the camper since we bought our first camper in 2004.  Usually at the beach.  So living in a tight quarters is nothing new to us.  Although I'm not sure our new camper qualifies as "tight quarters".

We started with a 25' trailer, then moved to a 33' trailer, now we have a HUGE 45' 5th wheel toy hauler. It's a bit ridiculous... But I basically got it at dealer cost, and we knew a deal like that was once in a lifetime.
