We decided to hit up sunny California for Christmas break.  A big part of the decision was fuled by a desire to visit Lego Land! https://www.legoland.com/california/

However, when we got there (wearing our summer gear), it was FREEZING!

They had just gotten a freak cold spell (and some snow).

I had a few dives scheduled (see video below), and I wasn't going to pass up a chance to dive the Pacific.

I wore a 7mm suit (basically feels like diving in a snow suit) and was fine for the first dive, but got pretty cold during the surface intervals and last 2 dives.

Thankfully the dive boat was prepared for cold water.  They had hot water in zip lock bags that you could stuff down your suit while you were on the boat.  It worked wonders!

Rachel and the boys took a quick dip at the beach.  The boys had never swam in the Pacific before that.
