Made it to Casper Wyoming. 114 miles, and didn't appear to lose any transmission fluid.
I had hoped that maybe it had leaked from the vent and not the seal, but no such luck.
$1,000 later ($60 part, $120 diagnostic fee, the rest was labor!) I have a new front trans seal.
Way better than having to buy a new transmission!
I think the bikes on front rack blocked too much air for the condition we were driving in. 100 degrees, 8% incline, heavyweight. The bikes are now stores in the camper for the rest of the trip.
We're staying in the Casper Bar-Nunn Koa. There's a pool, and fantastic view of the mountains....not much else.
But there is a cool bar across the street called the hanger. It's got a lot of old Texaco stuff in it. My dad used to own a Texaco when i was really little
